CES always marks the start of a new year – and this year’s edition rung in the start of a new decade. Each January, the Las Vegas Convention Center transforms into a global stage of innovation, where the world’s biggest tech companies engage in a good-spirited game of one-upmanship. This year’s show certainly didn’t disappoint. From futuristic cities to foldable computers and next-gen smart home products, CES 2020 delivered the ‘wow’ factor we’ve all come to expect – and then some. It’s always inspiring to see these technologists continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible, and this forward-thinking spirit is something that we closely identify with. Innovation is – and always has been – a priority for Menlo Micro, especially now as we prepare to launch our Ideal Switch.

We just got back from IMS 2019 – and it was a busy few days meeting with media, analysts, customers and partners. Boston is well-known as being a hotbed for microwave startups and entrepreneurs, making it the perfect place for what’s often referred to as the most important forum for RF and microwave professionals. This year, we were part of the brand new Startup Pavilion at IMS, which made for an exciting vantage point: new technologies were all around us. By: Chris Giovanniello, SVP of WW Marketing
From Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to APEC in Anaheim, California – the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. Racking up this many frequent flyer miles can only mean one thing: trade show season is definitely upon us. At Menlo Micro, we’re making a point to be front and center at the electronic industry’s biggest events – and we’re gaining plenty of Ideal Switch fans along the way. By: Russ Garcia, CEO
In the tech world, it takes just three simple letters to immediately invoke excitement: ‘CES.’ Over the years, CES has evolved beyond just consumer tech – although there are still plenty of super cool gadgets and gizmos to be seen at the show – and now serves as a stage for next-gen technological innovations of all kinds. More than 4,500 exhibitors showcased their wares across more than 2.9 million net square feet of exhibit space in Las Vegas at the show last month. Menlo was on hand to take in the sights of the show floor – and to meet with several customers and partners along the way. One topic of conversation during these meetings – and one that was much buzzed about at CES in general – was 5G. By: Chris Giovanniello, SVP Product Development
Electronica 2018 in Munich was definitely one for the books! Not only was it the biggest, best-attended version of the electronics industry’s premier show on record, it was Menlo Micro’s very first Electronica as a company – and what a debut it was! Members of the media, customers and partners alike were all at our booth wanting a hands-on experience – and looking to chat about our most recent news: the fact that our new 8” wafer manufacturing line is up and running! As I mentioned in my last blog, Menlo is now sampling product from this line, and we will begin scaling up the production of our unique micromechanical switches in the very near future. What a difference 2 years can make! That’s the amount of time that has passed since we first launched Menlo Micro in December 2016. And while much has happened during these past two years, the most satisfying has been to see these “ENORMOUS” (relatively speaking) 8-inch wafers coming off of the manufacturing line, covered with thousands of high-performance micro-mechanical switches! Many wondered if it was really possible to port a process from a research fab at 4-inch to a commercially viable 8-inch line, but when we look under the microscope at the quality and consistency of the devices we’re building, well…for someone who really loves technology, it is a thing of beauty! |
